This website has been designed to provide some general information about the Sheriff’s Office. We invite you to explore our site and learn more about our agency’s many responsibilities and duties. The Sheriff is a constitutional officer and the chief law enforcement officer in the County.  The Sheriff's duties are varied and for the most part are defined in the Wisconsin Statutes. The Sheriff’s Office operates the county jail, attends to the Circuit Court, operates a 911 Dispatch Center and provides law enforcement programs throughout the county. Other services that the Sheriff’s Office provides that are less known by the general public but just as vital include:

Ultimately the Sheriff is responsible for keeping the peace within Adams County.
