Adams County Sheriff's Office

On behalf of the men and women of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, I would like to welcome you to our official website. We are dedicated to providing the best level of service to Adams County and our website has been designed to help with achieving and maintaining that goal. I hope that you will find our website informative and useful.

The Sheriff’s Office was formed in 1853 along with other County elected offices. The office is staffed with 58 full-time employees and several part-time staff to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the Office of Sheriff. These responsibilities range from providing public safety to serving court papers to operating the County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for providing Law Enforcement services throughout Adams County covering an area of 677 square miles. These services generally include patrol functions, traffic enforcement, and criminal investigations. There are also several specialty positions within the Patrol Division that include the Recreation Deputy, School Resource Officer, 2 K9 Deputies and one Coumminty Policing / Court Security Deputy. These positions expand our services to the community and play an important role in public safety and education.

The Sheriff’s Office operates the only Dispatch Center within the County, which not only provides services for our agency, but also for the other law enforcement agencies, Department of Natural Resources, fire departments, and ambulance services. The Dispatch Center has staffed 24/7 answering 911 calls and non-emergency calls, ensuring that proper emergency services are dispatched. They also enter and maintain records for warrants, restraining orders and stolen property.

The Sheriff’s Office maintains a 112 bed County Jail that opened in 1995. The jail houses both sentenced inmates and non-sentenced inmates. The Jail Deputies are tasked with a wide range of responsibilities within the facility to ensure inmate and public safety. There are a number of programs offered within the jail to the inmates to include religious services, educational opportunities, alcohol, and drug education, counseling, Huber release, community service, and electronic monitoring.

This is just a brief overview of the diverse services that the Sheriff’s Office performs for the community. Please take the time to view the additional information that is available to you on our website.

I am very proud and honored to serve as your Sheriff and thank you for visiting our website.
